Arc around the commutator

I would like to know the english term used about an arc burning in an electric motor around the commutator.
"Circular arc fault at commutator" or how do you call this phenomena?

I have used the word 'flashover' in several reports an the yanks seem to understand what I mean.

In German it is 'Rundfeuer'. We use 'rundslag' in Swedish.
