Hi everybody,
I try to calculate the reactions of arch frame and comparate with SAP2000, but the results are very different, about formulary:

but in SAP2000, the horizontal result is 0.38 kN,

Do you have some idea, probably configuration in SAP2000?

Thanks.

OK, found it. From Pilkey's Formulas for Stress and Strain:

I ran it in Strand7 with the arch modelled with 20 beams and got:

For a circular arc: H = 11.6 kN
For a parabolic arc: H = 12.2 kN

The formula depends on the ratio of the beam stiffness, so a unit problem looks unlikely, and I can't see what the problem is.

Does the deflected shape look right?

What are k, alpha and phi in the formulas you posted? Maybe you've made a mistake in the hand calculation?

I get the same results for the horizontal reaction from a hand calc using the formulas above.

The load is per m horizontal, so the vertical reactions should be 60 kN.

Hello,

Right now I do not have sap2000, I wanted to verify that arch frame with the measures that I indicate to optimize the structure in the software, however due to the inconsistency in the reactions I am using only excel.
