ASME VIII U-1(2) says the following:

"Piping component, such as s pipe; flanges; bolting; gaskets; valves; fittings; the pressure- containing parts of other components such as strainers; filters; and devices that serve such purposes as mixing, separating, snubbing, distributing, metering or controlling flow; provided that pressure-containing parts of such components are generally recognized as piping components and accessories?"

Is a sample pot considered a piping component in this context?

How about a chemical feed pot?

What jurisdiction is applicable? What size of sample pots are you envisioning?

Wessels sells chemical feed pots that are code stamped so they are available.
The question should be, are you required to order a code stamped chemical feed pot, or is it your option based on some criteria you decide on.

The answer will be in your applicable boiler / pressure vessel safety code or your risk management AHJ.
