Dear engineers:

Attached is an installed pressure safety valve? are there any problem in the design? In my view, the discharge pipe is directly connected with elbow, is it necessary to conncet a spool and then connect with the pipe?

what do you think of it? thank you!

Hi Gray, besides the stress concern, for PSV outlet pipe conncetion, if the flange directly weld with elbow, then the pressure drop is higher than the one with a piece pup of spool, is it good for the system?

and another point, not for PSV, let's say an elbow directly weld with elbow with fluid, the fluid can also flush the elbow, and it can make the elbow thniner which is not good for it.

I agree with you on the cost consideration. but I still think it's better add a pup piece of spool if there is space at site.

Adding a short straight pipe spool before an elbow will have no effect on erosion in the elbow.
