Articulation under Advanced Simulation

Hi All,

I'm trying to use the "articulation" simulation object type while doing some thermal-flow simulation. However for some reason I have to apply it when the "solution" is inactive and then when I activate the solution again after implementing the articulation, the articulation object doesn't activate which obviously means it won't do anything in the simulation.

I think I must be missing something here but how do I got about using articulation and actually activating it when simulating? I'm trying to do some thermal analysis of a braking system and I want the rotation of the wheel to be included for the flow analysis.

Dear Tim,
Take care when defining the analysis in NX Flow/Thermal, you must select the SOLVER, for instance NX Thermal/Flow, then the ANALYSIS TYPE = Thermal, and finally the SOLUTION TYPE = Advanced Thermal. This last point is critical, if you select THERMAL instead ADVANCED THERMAL then the command SOLID MOTION EFFECTS is not active in your menus, because ARTICULATION is part of ADVANCED THERMAL only, OK?.

Hi Blas,

Thank you very much for the reply. If the "Advanced" solution type is not available (see attached screenshot) does this just mean my licensing isn't up to scratch and I need something more? I'm using NX7.5 if that makes any difference...

Dear Tim,
SOLID MOTION EFFECTS (ie, ARTICULATION) is a feature available only with the licenses of NX ADVANCED THERMAL, NX ADVANCED THERMAL-FLOW, the COMPLETE solution, NX Space Systems Thermal (SST) and ADVANCED-NX Electronic Systems Cooling (ESC).
