As-Built Piling Plan

Dear All,

I have an enquiry. For an as-built plan, does it have to include all the eccentricities in the drawings? or just those eccentricities that exceed pile tolerances?

Actually, what are the standard requirements or what must to be shown on the as-built piling plan?

Regarding your inquiry: we don't know how your piles are being used (under a building, supporting equipment foundations, etc.). However, if these piles are under a building foundation, then around here, our record drawings only specifically note those piles which are out of tolerance, moved, replaced, or supplemented. I hope this makes your job simpler.

Thanks for your response. So it does not necessarily need to indicate the eccentricities within the pile tolerance? Then, for those piles which are moved but within the tolerance, you will just provide Pile Eccentricity Report/Summary to the consultants?

By moved, I mean a pile which has been shifted intentionally to some out-of-tolerance location. This usually happens when an underground obstruction prevents driving a pile to its intended depth. It would necessarily then be noted as such in the record drawings.

What do the Contract documents say? Typically, they will require Contractor to note deviations from the Contract only. However, on our marine pile projects, we require actual pile locations be determined by the Contractor based on a legal survey.
