Hi All,

Could someone please explain to me why the in plane shear formula for walls (Clause 11.6) has been modified to now depend on the overall height of the wall and not the floor to floor height? When H/Lw > 1, the new formula gives much lower shear capacity. For more context, I was using this Clause 11.6 to determine the in plane shear capacity of my shear core walls (as individual walls).

Thanks in advance!

If you're designing a Shear Wall it's an idealised cantilever from the base to the top.
If it's a slender cantilever, you'll have a lesser inplane shear capacity.

Also, you should post as3600 topics in the as3600 code forum.

Thank you for your explanation SRL V1.0! sorry, will do next time!
