ASD Vs LRFD

Hello,
Please can you tell me the difference between the two methods "Allowable Stress Design ASD " and "Load and Resistance Factor Design LRFD"

2 different approaches to applying safety factors in design

ASD factors down the stress in the member, as API RP2A-WSD

LRFD factors up the loads applied, but keeps the allowable stress at the elastic limit. Such as ISO19902.
