ASHRAE 62.1 Ventilation Rate Procedure (VRP) Question

Hello! This is a repeat post, to help answer at least one question that I had in this post. For the ASHRAE VRP calculator, the calculation is broken up by zones, and these zones must be classified as one type or another. If I have a zone that is actually a combination of rooms/spaces with different uses (e.g. two labs and two offices), how should I classify the zone they comprise in the calculation? As the most stringent (lab) or to average their ventilation requirement (somewhere between lab and office)?

I can provide calculation spreadsheet if that helps! Thank you in advance.

Which edition of the standard are you working with? I can check the guide book to see if ASHRAE has weighed in on this.

If the offices are small compared to the laboratories AND they and the laboratories are ventilated from the same unit, I'd likely just call the whole thing a lab and be done with it.

@Antifed, thanks for the reply! I am using the 62.1-2022 version of the standard.

And what you recommend makes sense, but I didn't know if there was more specific guidance on this. I work semi-frequently to replace AHU's for systems whose zoning I cannot adjust, so I am often left with zones with mixed collection of spaces with different uses and OA requirements.
