hello to all,
I have calculated no. of bolts of body/bonnet joint of a valve according to ASME B16.34 clause 6.4.1.1 equations and ASME SEC. VIII DIV.1 APPENDIX 2 set of equations.
but I got the very different answers in which as per B16.34 i got minimum 8 no. of bolts required and as per ASME SEC.VIII DIV.1 APPENDIX 2 I got Minimum 14 no. of bolts required.
so my question is why there's such huge variation in both the calculation results?
I know that ASME SEC. VIII DIV.1 APPENDIX 2 Bolted joint calculation is calculated in very detailed form in which there's numerous parameters are considered, for example gasket seating factor pretty influence the joints calculation highly.
but can we rely on the joint calculation as per ASME B16.34,does it give consistent adequate result?
kindly give me clarity on it.
