Hi all,

I have a question regarding valves (other than safety or relief valves) that are included in the Boiler External Piping of a boiler constructed under ASME BPVC Sec.I.
As indicated in ASME B31.1 Para. 100.1.2, it is not required that valves other than safety or relief valves are ASME I inspected and stamped. However, they have to comply with the requirements of ASME B31.1.

Are they then required to be hydrostatically tested together with the B.E.P.? Only when they are welded to the piping?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Obzekator,

BEP is considered as a part of Boiler and shall be hydrotested together with a boiler, up to the second isolation valve per BPVC Section I and B31.1 provisions.

Thanks,
Curtis

Dear curtis2004,

Thanks for your answer. My confusion was based on the fact that those valves themselves are not part of the boiler stamp.
