Under ASME B 31.8 code, we were trying to analyze a system for expansion stress case from Maximum Design Temperature to Minimum Design Temperature (Complete thermal stress range Load Case).

In stresses extended report, The Allowable stress and stress ratio is found to be Zero for all the elements in ASME B31.8 code in this load case.

However in stress summary report, the maximum stress ratio is shown as 999.

Has anybody encountered this issue before ?

Depending on the specific load case, and the restrained/unrestrained status of the pipe, B31.8 may define a Code and Allowable stress, or it may not. The answer to your question is in the Code. However, if you want Tech Support to review your job, please open a Support Request on Smart Support and send in the job.
