Regarding Postweld Heat Treatment-TECHNICAL SIGNIFICANT
This revision consists of a rewrite of the rules for postweld heat treatment. The rules are similar to those in Section III and incorporate the provisions of Case 1492, “Postweld Heat Treatment.” This change clarifies that the postweld heat treatment holding time need not be continuous. The term “nominal thickness” is also clarified.

So your states VIII-2? Interesting..... may not apply here.... I am not sure how the Code Case numbers are issued or even if they can use the same Code Case number for a different ASME Code Section. Either way, double check the Code Case No.

Thanks for anwering my question. I can go back to the
customer and ask them what's going on. There have
been a couple spec revisions for the Div. 2 vessel.
Only the latest rev had mentioned the code case.
Code Case 1492 no longer exists. If it was invoked by your Customer for new work, it is most likely due to the Customer using old, out of date, "Boiler Plate" specs. Take exception; nicely clue the clueless.
