In regards to ASME Code for pressure vessels, Does ASME code state or regulate about using calculations for someone else's design as my own?

More specifically, I am under a time crunch and have been going back and forth with our AI and engineering in regards to calculations for an obround flange, and I was thinking it would be OK to use someone else's calculations seeing as it going to be built exactly to the specifications of that design.

Also what would be the correct formula (minimum thickness) to use for the calcs for an obround flange on a nozzle (firetube)for 96 od 75# treater with a repad

By "ASME Code for pressure vessels", would you be referring to:

Section I
Section III
Section VIII Div. 1
Section VIII Div. 2
Section VIII Div. 3
Section X
Section XII
Or some other code?

Section VIII division 1
The obround is 1-3/4 thick 48" long x 27"

tc817, last question first, non-circular flanges with circular bores may be designed per Apx 2, see 2-10. A true obround flange is most likely going to be a U-2(g) design.

You may use calculations performed by others, provided all parties are agreed. However, your organization is ultimately responsible for them.

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand
