In the Statement of Policy in ASME RTP-1-2013, the following statement reads: 'Markings such as "ASME," "ASME Standard" or any other marking including "ASME" or the Certification Mark shall not be used on any item that is not constructed in accordance with all of the requirements of the Code or Standard.' It is further stated: 'Data Report Forms covering items not fully complying with ASME requirements should not refer to ASME or they should clearly identify all exceptions to the ASME requirements.' The question is, for a (Non ASME-U")vessel not in full compliance with the Code, may it be stamped "Generally in accordance with ASME RTP-1" when the exceptions are noted on the data plate, data report forms, etc.

I would avoid putting any reference to ASME on the final data reports or data plates. As much as you understand the scope of compliance, 20 years from now will the plant operators know the difference? They may see the word ASME on there, and treat the vessel as such with all of the rules/regulations that accompany it.

It is much cleaner to make it understood with the client that the vessel is generally in accordance with RTP-1 and complete fabrication, but avoid any use of ASME on the final product.

Cheers,

Thanks marty007 for your opinion. Btw this vessel will be used in Africa, nevertheless I tend to agree that the client should avoid the use of ASME on the data plate, data report, etc.
