Hi guys,

New to this forum. I Have a question about pipe dimensions: Can I use pipe with dimensions that are not listed in SA-312 table X1.1? For example, in SA-312, NPS 2 has OD 2.375" (60.33mm), wall thickness of 0.218"(5.54mm), can I used 68mm*12mm (OD x wall thickness) as ASME SA-312 material if the manufacture can make this pipe? Couldn't find any specification guiding this.

Thank you very much for sharing your advice!

See ASME II SA-312
1.4 Table X1.1 lists the standardized dimensions of welded
and seamless stainless steel pipe as shown in ASME B36.19.
These dimensions are also applicable to heavily cold worked
pipe. Pipe having other dimensions is permitted to be ordered
and furnished provided such pipe complies with all other
requirements of this specification.

Ben Zhao,
As r6155 pointed out, refer to ASME 36.19 is the dimensional standard for SS SA -312 pipes. just keep one thing in mind - if you order standard pipe schedules that are commonly available in the market, it will be faster and cheaper, otherwise ordering a non-standard schedule pipe could be expensive and long delivery. It also depends on the quantity. If you want few pipes, noone may even quote you.

We made lots of special pipe for people, sometimes std OD with different wall, sometimes tube size (even OD sizes).
Sometimes we even made pipe sizes to tubing specs.
If you are buying heat lot quantities, you can get about anything.
But you will have to stock your own spares.
