See PFT 51. I know that this is part of the firetube boiler section but I believe that you are directed elsewhere in the code to use these rules.

Thanks EJL,

PFT 51 is applicable for Furnace and Tubes of Firetube Boilers. Is this item applicable for steam drums as well?

I probably should have asked this earlier... Under what circumstances will you have to be concerned with the steam drum under vacuum?

The Preamble states
"The Code does not contain rules to cover all details of
design and construction. Where complete details are not
given, it is intended that the manufacturer, subject to the
acceptance of the Authorized Inspector, shall provide
details of design and construction which will be as safe as
otherwise provided by the rules in the Code."

Your best bet is to use the rules from PFT-51.
