Hello everybody,
I am wondering how thoroughly the pressure vessel manufacturers go in their receiving inspection of heads when they are produced by a third party.
It seems there are two philosophies:
A) Vessel manufacturer basing their receiving inspection by the review of the certificate of compliance from the head manufacturer verification of thickness and geometry results stated on the report).
B) Vessel manufacturer performing measurement of the head at reception.
For those going in the path of philosophy B, how are you performing the inspection? UT for thickness measurement and templates for profile verification?
I found two ASME interpretations in relation to this subject: VIII-1-83-229 and VIII-1-92-106.
Thanks!
