I am evaluating an ASME vessel design that has a mitered shell welded at a 45 degree angle to a flat plate using a full penetration weld.
Similar to figure UW-13.2 (e-1) except at a 45 degree angle rather than a 90 degree one.
I believe I can evaluate the flat plate thickness using UG-34(c)(3), but what methods can I use to evaluate the shell thickness and the weld.
I am thinking ASME B31.3 304.2.3 (c), thickness calculation for mitered pipe bends, might be applicable to for the shell thickness.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!
