ASME Sec VIII Div 2 - Unfired pressure vessel

We have shop fabricated waste heat boiler and steam drum that are to be field assembled. The risers are to be welded in the field for completing the installation of the steam drum on the boiler. Is a hydrotest mandatory for the complete field assembly for the tie in welds even after shop hydrotest for both the equipment has been done? Are there other provisions in the Code that can be done to ensure quality of these welds without a pressure test?

Dear qualitypro,

Your customer would not let you go without a hydro-test. Moreover, it depends on the regulatory body for boilers of the particular country where you are going to install the WHB.
