ASME Sec VIII Div-I Figure UW-13 (d) Flat head with pressure vessel

Hello techies,

We are using a flat head (End plate) for a pressure pipe and design as per ASME Sec VIII Div-I.

we picked up the End plate design as per Figure UW-13 (d)(Attached the image for your reference here)

In that case, what will be the value of a and b? How can we identify it. Since the inclined angle also not available in the figure.

Also the root gap distance also not given.... please guide on this

Can anyone guide us on this?

It literally tells you in what you posted what a and b are. There is no set dimension...as long as it satisfies what is written.

High school maths. Its an iteration to calculate a and b.
