Does ASME Sect 8 Tell you to have a smooth Ground flush finish on the inside Weld of the Nozzle for a pressure Vessel? or is it something that I need to specifically tell my vendor, if I require it ?.

If ASME tells you, can I please have the Section number.

Thank You

You need to tell your vendor and preferably on your drawing.

Depends of dimensions, materials and service:

1) If the pressure vessel is stainless steel and hygienic design, obviously inside surface shall be smooth and polished, ….and more good engineering practice other than ASME VIII

2) UHT-84 WELD FINISH
The requirements of UW-35(a) and UW-51(b) shall be
met except that for SA-517 material the maximum weld
reinforcement shall not exceed 10% of the plate thickness
or 1/8 in. (3.0 mm), whichever is less. The edge of the weld
deposits shall merge smoothly into the base metal without
undercuts or abrupt transitions; this requirement
shall apply to fillet and groove welds as well as to butt
welds.

It is not required for a nozzle that has an inside projection. If you want it done, specify it. BTW it is Section VIII.

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand
