I can't find A992 Gr 50 in ASME Section 2 Part D table 5A - for I-Beams in high temperature service (750 DegF). Is it there and I am missing it? Does anyone have a different source?

IFRs, normally when a material is not listed in in Sec II, Part D, it means it is not recognized by ASME and is therefore not permitted, unless perhaps by Code case. However, these materials are normally used as pressure retaining rather than structural. You may be able to use your I-beam off the pressure boundary, however you will have to determine allowables some other way.

BTW, I am looking at ASTM A-992-04a and only see a single grade.

Thanks for your help. The specifications from the engineering company representing the purchaser called for the use of ASME Sec II Part D for the allowable stresses given the 750 DegF temperature. The structure is inside the vessel and is exposed to the temperatures.

The table includes SA-675 of various grades and SA-36 for "shapes" but does not include A573 or A992.

Would I be remiss in using the reduction factors for 675-50 for A992?

Where might I find strength reduction factors for A992?

Where might I find Young's Modulus temperature reduction factors?

This is old, but short:

doct9960 - Thanks - I got both the ppt and the paper. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.
