ASME Section III Div 1 NB-5320 Question

We are doing Radiographic interpretation to the NB-5320 clause of Section III Div 1 on Butt welds and a difference of opinion has arose on the interpretation of (d). This clause states any group of aligned indications.........etc. My understanding of that statement is that you may have any amount of porosity in a row and it would need to be evaluated under this requirement. Another NDT Technician says that this is not the correct way and says you must follow the terminology stated in Article VI-1000 Para VI-1122 which states a sequence of four or more for it to be classified as linear. I have told him that since section 5320 Para (d) does not refer him to Article VI that this terminology is not relevant. Could someone please clarify this as now I am confused on what is the correct direction to proceed.
