Hi,

In an elastic-plastic analysis, the required factored load combinations from table 5.5 of ASME Sec VIII Div2 part 5, the table has temperature (T) as one of the load cases in a load case combination e.g. 0.88*beta*(P+Ps+D+T).

So, when factoring the temperature, I have used the factor on the coefficient of thermal expansion. Is there any other way to factor the temperature? or is this factoring reasonable?

Thanks.

Using the factor on the coefficinet of thermal expansion is the right way to do it.

Thank you IdanPV and TGS4 for the confirmation.
