Hi,

I am looking for a way how to consider an intermediate ultimate strenght US (552MPa < US < 793MPa) for an fatigue evaluation acc. ASME Section VIII Div 2.

In the 1989 Addition i found at page 564 "Where curves for various strength levels of a material are given, linear interpolation may be used for intermediate strength levels of these materials".

Unfortunately I can not find anything similar in the latest Versions (2007 - 2015)

Has someone experience with this issue?

Thank you in advance

Markus

Specifically, what is your material/strengths?

It is XCrNi18-7 / yield = 330MPa / tensile = 630 MPa

The last sentence of 3-F.1.2(a) covers you. However, I would have thought that your material would fall under sub-paragraph (b).

Use the 2017 Edition curves - they're easier to code. And pay attention to the maximum temperature limits, too.
