Hi

I am working through ASME VIII Div 1 UG-127 and UG-131 to find away to size burst disks for two phase (water and steam) flow. So far I not found any thing on this. Does anyone know where I should be looking?

The only reference in ASME VIII-1 I could find is API 527 (see table U-3). If you use API 520-I for your design you're good, as long as you meet the specifici (additional) requirements of VIII-1 (see e.g. UG-137)

See if this article from Phil Leckner will answer your query:
At the bottom of each page there is a drop-down list "More content on this subject..." from where you can chose other parts of the series (there are 6 parts on rupture discs in total).
Most of what is included in this series of articles can be found in API RP520 and API RP521, and ASME Section VIII Division 1. See also
There is additional information in Lees' "Loss prevention in the process industries", Section 15.

Thanks XL83NL

I have spent time looking at API520. The problem is, this code under calculates the flows which leads to more disks than you ready need and under calculation of the thrust loads so you will under design the supports at the discharge point.

ISO4123-10 looks promising and closer to what we have measured during commissioning tests.
