Hi All,
Wondering if any can shed some light on a query with regard to nozzle (self reinforced) for ASME cold stretching.
Man App 44 is clear on using the allowable stresses given in Table 44 for use in calculating head and wall thickness. However, when calculating the reinforcements I am right to assume that when taking into consideration the excess wall thickness for reinforcement calls that it should be as per allowable stresses given Sec II. So example, modified 304N is 293 mpa for head and shell calc. But for reinforcement purposes it should taken as 154mpa.
In general we use finglow for calculation purposes, but it appears stop dead when using the lower value as it thinks the wall thickness is insufficient when trying to calc nozzles without a reinforcement pad.
Thanks.
