Hello

I have a question regarding pressure vessel manufactured in France , by a supplier with U stamp active

The marking has been done directly on the vessel and, after painting, it’s realy hard reading.

My question is : can we add a “sticker” on the vessel, as a “name plate” with same information as marked, in order to ensure that the inspector will get all information during commissioning ?

Thanks

Greg

Nameplate requirements in ASME VIII Division 1 come under sections UG 118 and 119.
UG-119 states that an additional nameplate must be marked 'Duplicate' and carry the certification mark.
I somehow don't think a sticker is suitable if I read the requirements in this section of the code.

Per ISO-4126, only the term Safety Valve is used regardless of application or design.

IMO, to save the trouble, may clean up the paint on the SS name plate, which should be covered with the tape for painting.

Emphasis added.

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

a) Maybe it happened as indicated by UG-116
(h)(2) As an alternative to nameplates or stamping,
parts 5 in O.D. and under may be marked with an identification
acceptable to the Inspector and traceable to the
Form U-2 or Form U-2A Manufacturer’s Partial Data Report.
Such marking shall be of a type that will remain visible
until the parts are installed. The Certification Mark is
not required.

b) Or the nameplate was not included in the contract.

Regards
