Hello everyone, newly minted member with first time question's
I am in the beginning stages of ASME welding in our shop. The core process is sheet metal and plate fabricating, primarily reservoirs to the AWS. Pipe welding requirements are beginning to enter the picture. During my research I found a list of tests for pipe. No details just the list. I am looking for information on these few UA-17, UA-17W, UA-30 and UA-65. These are all wire feed processes. As I said we are a production metal plate fabricating facility. I wish to keep the ASME processes as close the the AWS as I can and still be ASME qualified. I have a 2010 edition of the ASME Sec.9. I understand the requirements for a PQR of a WPS and work with an accredited outside Lab for impartiality. I just need the specifics for those UA tests I listed to get started.
Can anyone provide a source for finding this information please?

JrmCwiCweAsnt,
I had never heard of UA welder qualification but apparently it is "United Association" and I think it is union based.
Type "UA-17 welding" into Google and you will get all the info you require.
Cheers,
DD

Thanks DekDee,
Been all over Google no joy. Only info I found was for the UA-21 SMAW E6010/7018 and UA-22 GTAW/SMAW ER70S-2/E7018. Those being root/hot and cover passes in Stick and Gas Tungsten Arc root and stick hot and cover.
Standard Pipe fitter qualification tests.

I'll keep digging but if anyone out there can point out a source for information on the ones I listed above, please forward it.

Regards,
JRM

My recommendation is to start from the beginning and implement ASME Section IX WPS and welder performance qualification. You will be confused otherwise.
