I received an advance review print from a customer specifying ASME Y14.100-2013. We requested that our customer complete this drawing with tolerance that was missing (this is a US Army TACOM drawing.) As a courtesy our customer is asking us to review the drawing before they submit the change to TACOM.

The company I work for uses the -2004 version. Would any of you have a summary of the changes from 2004 to 2013? I did a search through Google but did not find one.

Thanks for your help. Diego

Thanks Chris, I agree fully. This is the first time we have seen the 2013 release listed on a print so we have not yet purchased the update. I was looking for a summary of changes to see where they may apply to this fabricated part.

DiegoLGraves: As ctopher said, you need to get the standard and go through it. I doubt you will find anywhere the differences written down between the two versions.

Again, agreed. There is no other way to see how changes may apply. What I was thinking of relates to books on Y14.500 which list the changes from the earlier version. Those lists were helpful.

In my reply to the customer I approved the added tolerance as within our process capability, but stated our lack of the new standard. That will hopefully free up the $120 for the update.

Sounds like your customer would like to see you buy the new version. BTW what's Y14.500?

The Summary Of Changes page in Y14.100-2013 isn't very helpful, just noting what new paragraphs were revised or added for the most part without any helpful detail of the kind you are looking for.
The only exception is pg 4-11, Location 3:

(1) Definitions numbered and bolded
(2) Definitions of drawing and original
revised
(3) Definitions of alternate part; approval
indicator; associated documents;
authentication; biometrics; controlled
media; Critical Safety Process (CSP);
cryptographic key; data elements;
descriptive identifier; digital signature;
Electrostatic Sensitive Device (ESD);
Environmental Impact (ENI);
Environmental Stress Screening (ESS);
field of drawing; Hazardous Conditions,
Processes, or Materials (HAZ);
interchangeability; ozone-depleting
chemicals; ozone-depleting processes;
product definition elements; replaceability;
signature; significant drawing numbering
system; special characters; substitute part;
and unsafe condition added.
