ASME Y14.5 Center lines as extension lines instead of 2X for multiple features.

Hello,

I am sure that somewhere I saw a statement with respect to dimensioning that allowed omission of 2X in front of a dimension if the features are connected by a center line. Is this allowed or am I mis remembering? See attached image.

You are not required to add 2[×], but sometimes, it is a good idea.

There is implied zero dimension between the holes, so you in fact already have two dimensions on your drawing.

If you are using SolidWorks and you are applying centre lines, there is a setting that connects all the holes that are at the same dimension. If the holes are not at the same position, you know they don't line up.
