Hello,

ASPE requires "a minimum of four years of experience in a position of responsibility for the design of plumbing systems" to sit for the CPD exam.

I have over ten years of experience in process engineering, i.e. piping and equipment. Would this count towards the "plumbing" experience?

Thanks,
B.

I design aqueducts in a parallel universe.

You would have to inquire from ASPE for a definitive answer.

From experience, I had about 7 years of piping experience but 0 of plumbing when I started plumbing design. There are a lot of similarities where you would be "overqualified" but there are also items which you would be "underqualified" such as plumbing code, building code, natural gas (not process), and fire suppression (sprinklers, standpipes, and pumps). A lot of plumbing is drainage which typical process experience doesn't cover. It is a paradigm shift, but should not be something that would be long to pick up.
