Assembly constraints not transferring to upper assemblies

I have had this a couple of times randomly, and can't find the solution yet. (NX11 stand-alone) I have a sub-assembly that is fully constrained. The next assembly up does not read the constraints from the assembly below it, and parts are out of place. They used to be working fine, but something has broken the link between somehow. Has anyone experienced this, or know a solution? I know that if I replace the sub-assembly in the upper assembly, it will fix it. But I was hoping to find the cause rather than a work-around. Thanks.

Was the "override position" command used in the upper level assembly?

Umm... yes. But not on the components that are out of place. Does that cause problems?
