Assembly | Material Percentage

Is there a way to determine how much of a certain kind of material is used in a assembly?
For example: If an assembly has X amount of components made of Al, Cu, Stainless steel, and I want to know the percentage of Cu, or Al.
Is there an option in SolidWorks that can show this?

There is no direct tool AFAIK. Look into using Assembly visualization tool OR Assembly BOM to get the details of material for each part. And then you can export to excel. Further you can excel tables/formulas to calculate the percentage.

Thanks for the reply. I was able to use the assembly visualization and organized the material and total weight columns, then I calculated the percentages using the total weight of the assembly.

Are you asking for a manual process or an automatic one? If you want to do it automatically, then you will need to use equations, or better still use SW VBA or .net.

If you want to do it manually, you can use Excel based BOM with custom properties that are linked to weights of the parts and assemblies.
