Hi,
How could I change the order of the components in the Assembly Navigator? Moving (for instance) a component from the bottom to the top?

Thanks

All you can do is sort the list, so give it a name that starts with A or Z and then sort accordingly.

Unlike other systems like Pro/e for example the order of the components on the Assemby Navigator has no relationship to the components or the assembly. They can be in any order. You can sort the list or assign a component name that is used only in this assembly.

Another option (rather than changing your part or component name) is to add an attribute to each component (eg SORT), then display that attribute as a column in the ANT. The value of the attribute can be changed in each component file to achieve the sort order you require - could be numeric or alphabetic however there are some sorting issues with numeric (eg 1,10,11,2,3..). If the assembly is a drawing with a parts list you could sort based on the CALLOUT attribute but above problem will apply

I have the same issue however charging part names is not an option. Is something like Geoff was saying a viable option that will not affect the part within Teamcenter?

Could anyone explain in more detail (maybe step-by-step) what Geoff is suggesting?

From the assembly navigator right click in an open area, not on a component and select properties to display the assembly navigator properties dialog. Select the columns tab and in the Attribute files enter SORT and click create. Now you have a new column on the ANT. For each component add an attribute named SORT wit hte numbering format you want. Now you can control the way the components are displayed on the ANT.
