When working with an assembly, any assembly, I often constrain parts by working planes & axis--which are made in the assembly file.

I always turn them off once I'm done using them, and make sure all working planes & axis are turned off before I save and close the assembly.

However, every time I reopen the assembly to edit it or place it as a subassembly into another assembly project, ALL THE WORKING PLANES & AXIS USED ARE TURNED BACK ON.

Is there a way to fix this, so that I don't have to spend 15 minutes going thru the browser selecting & turning them all off?

That certainly is faster than hunting thru the browser.

Does that mean there is no way to keep work planes turned off, so that they don't always show up when opening an assembly?

Try Object Visibility from the View menu. This gives me better results, though it doesn't seem perfect all the time (though that may just be me!)
