A dent had been found on a pressure vessel and a dicision to conduct an assessment of this defect has been taken.
I have three questions that need answers and I hope you'll help me:
The procedure outlined in API 579 part 12 is it applicable or does only deal with pipes and pipelines?
Any one has an idea about the procedure developped by the company DIEKS and its limitations?
Are there any other standards or publications that could be helpfull?

Part 12 of 579 is applicable to vessels, too. I have used that procedure myself.

API 579 2nd edt, part I, para 1.2.;

1.2.2 The assessment procedures in this Standard can be used for Fitness-For-Service assessments and/or rerating of equipment designed and constructed to the following codes
a) ASME B&PV Code, Section VIII, Division 1
b) ASME B&PV Code, Section VIII, Division 2
c) ASME B&PV Code, Section I
d) ASME B31.1 Piping Code
e) ASME B31.3 Piping Code
f) API 650
g) API 620

Is there any other code or standard or a paper dealing with dents defects?
