Hello all. I have not done a lot of gear design/assessment, however a project requires I check the capacity of some existing straight-cut spur gears - so here goes.
One set of gears is defined as "4/5 D.P. stub teeth". After some head scratching and research I gather this is a split-pitch stub-tooth form, presumably of the "Fellows" variety - this seems to be the only split-pitch system?
My intention was to assess these according to AGMA 2001-D04 for bending strength. However, the standard makes no reference to a split-pitch form, or indeed the stub form at all. Nor does AGMA 908-B89 2020 geometry factors.
The question I have is; is it still possible to apply the AGMA code?
