Do you have any idea on why type certificate holders, e.g. Boeing, assign two different part number to flap carriages on port and starboard sides of aircraft whereas flap mechanism on two side should be symmetric?

they are handed by wing dihedral, so I'd expect -001 and -002 part numbers. They may be different drawing numbers (123-001 and 456-001) ... maybe the Boeing design office had a special (BOGO ?) on drawing numbers. What does Airbus do ?? What does Boeing do for flaps ??
