Hello,

We are executing job for fabrication of Heat Exchanger through Contractor. As per drawing specification, the baffle and impingement plate material is ASTM A283 Grade C but due to material availability issue contractor is requesting to use European standard material EN 10025 S 275. Can we use EN 10025 S 275 instead of ASTM A 283 Grade C for baffle plates and Impingement plate??

Chemical and mechanical properties of EN 10025 S 275 is superior as compare to ASTM A283 Grade C , but EN 10025 S 275 is standard for structural material, while ASTM A283 Grade C is standard for plate material. can we used this European standard for our required condition???

Thanks and Regards.

m.wasif you do not state Code of construction (if any), applicable standards (if any) etc. but as these are not pressure boundary parts the material substitution would typically be acceptable with Owner approval.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Applicable standard is TEMA for Heat Exchanger Fabrication

These parts are often made from A- / SA-36. Nothing more to add....
