Good Day,

At what maximum temperature that ASTM A36 Plate can maintain its strength for a long period of time (approximately 4 years)?

Your inputs and comments are much appriciated! Thank you and Have a Nice Day!

First assumption is that you want to maintain full strength because you did not mention reduced strength. A 36 will have reduced tensile properties as service temperature increases above 650 deg F regardless of duration. So, to answer your question, for A 36 to maintain it's full rated strength, the maximum service temperature is 650 deg F. Above this temperature oxidation starts to increase resulting in loss of material with increasing creep (permanent) damage, and other damage mechanisms. Much of the capability of A 36 to survive at elevated temperature depends on application and loads in service.
