This is one of the wear resistant cast irons with very high chrome content, 23-28%.
It has been "suggested" that it is not ferromagnetic, or at least not enough to be successfully magnetized for Mag particle NDT.

[li]Does anyone know if this is the case ?[/li]

I'm getting the feeling that at that high percentage Chrome the material is all Austenite and M7C3 ( Chrome Carbide), and since Austenite is not magnetic, "not magnetic, or magnetizable" may be right.
But the otherwise quite thorough The "Abrasion-resistant cast iron handbook" talks generally about magnetic particle inspection, but says "No specialized adaptation of these techniques is required to examine alloyed AR cast irons."
