I am using 1989 ASME B31.1 and Appendix F lists various ASTM specs and the edition years.

Am I locked into using the editions listed in the 1989 version of B31.1 or is it acceptable to use the current ASTM spec editions.

Is there a reference that would allow me to use the newer versions.

thanks
Mark

I will make this as simple as possible. Why are you required to use ASME B31.1 1989 edition? Unless you are required by contract or regulation to use this edition, I would use the latest edition of B31.1. This way you have the most up to date edition of the piping code with up-yo-date technical information.

If you are required to use the 1989 edition of B31.1, the associated references in Appendix F would also apply. These are references approved for use by B31.1. Later editions of B31.1 may or may not endorse these same references or may take exception to later aditions of these references.
