Asymmetric vs Symmetric SRB's

What is the better of the two SRB's? I am having some difficulty figuring out which is the better bearing. I know NTN offers an asymmetric SRB for bearings larger than a 50mm bore while other companies (ie SKF) do not offer any at all. Is skewing of the rolling elements the issue here? Are there certain applications where one is better than the other?

The issue with asymmetric SRB's is that under load and/or high speed, the rollers are displaced inwards. This leads to unwanted edge loading, unequal loading, heat ...... potential premature failure.

SKF dropped the assymetric design in 1951.

Symmetrical designs are higher in capacity and equalize the load along the roller reducing the contact pressure.
