Auditing against "Parts" 1

Good (morning/afternoon/evening) everyone,

I have a question, and unfortunately I can only explain it as best as I can.. however with limited knowledge and understanding I am not sure I will be clear enough.

I have heard about quality auditing against various "parts", e.g. "Part 145" and "Part 21" (both of them I think, tied with aerospace maybe).

My questions are:

- Where can I find the full list of these "parts" ?
- Is there a standard against it?
- Any additional information or background that would help to build up my knowledge?

Thank you in advance!

Thanks MintJulep,

Actually my question was not only focussed on the aviation industry. The two parts mentioned in my post are indicative. I suppose there may be other parts, e.g. part xyz for electrical safety; part yzx for medical devices; etc.

I have no idea, so I may be completely wrong. Unfortunately my (few and very confused) ideas are coming from a convesation I had one month ago and I did not have any chance to go any deeper in that occasion.

Keep in mind, I may be completely wrong. But I kind of remember that -from the bits and pieces of conversation I was involved- there were parts probably like 23, or similar numbers, that were about steel structures, of railway industry.

Unfortunately, I cannot recollect any additional detail at this stage... which makes my question very confused.

Maybe someone with greater prescience than I will have a better answer.

My guess is that if you have no further context it won't matter to you.
Were these interview questions?

Based on MJ's astute guess, the full list is the entirety of US Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)

- Is there a standard against it?
You would have to read the CFR in its entirety

Could be a part of any set of standards, not necessarily just CFR(USA). Your member profile has you in Oz. Without further context, it's a guessing game and no meaningful answer can be given.

It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all.

Hi All,

Apologies for being silent over the past few days. Too many missing details in the question made its comprehension quite hard. I thank you all for trying to interpret what I was after.

Here is what I was looking for:

It is not actually "auditing against certain parts", but more the "scope of the accreditation" for the CB.

Again, thank you for your effort :) Much appreciated.
