Auto BOM that can link to blocks

Any one know of a program that can incorporate a block from library and then automatically generate a BOM. I once used a program called ME10, it works a lot like AutoCAD but can also automatically update the drawing template title blocks, revision in all sheets, and all parts (blocks) inside a drawing. It would be nice to have those function with auto CAD, any tips or info would be appreciated.

If a parent drawing incorporates a BOM as a X-Ref drawing, Making the change in the BOM will be automatically noticed in the parent drawing when you open it. Is this what you are looking for?

What I'm looking for is the other way around, I need the BOM to be updated when I changed or inserted a block.
