Hi all,

I have created a model in sketch and drafted it .If i change the dimensions in the model, and give update
the dimensions in drafting gets updated but the position of the dimensions doesnt change with the model.
Again i have to reposition the dimensions .
How to avoid it and make the dimension positioning associative with the model,

Thanx,

What do you mean by 'the position of the dimensions doesn't change'? Do you have your dimensioning set to Automatic placement or Manual? Automatic placement will center the dimension between the extension lines. Manual placement will 'lock' the dimension to the screen position.

Hi Ben ,

let us suppose i create a rectangle 2 x 5 in sketch, and extruded it.In drafting i have used automatic placement and placed the dimensions.
Now if i change the value of rectangle as 4 x 8 in sketch and i have given update model and in drafting i have updated all views. The dimensions get updated but
Now u can see the model has become bigger and the dimensions are inside model in drafting ,That is the extension lines doesnt move as the model is changed .

How to fix this and make the extension line move with the model.

I´m note sure but I think it works with "edit->origin..." and there choose "relative to view"

And use "automatic placement" on the dimension

It is the following steps:

Edit
Origin
(Origin Tool dialog opens)
Select your dimension
Check the Associative box
select the line you want the dimension associative to
Apply
place dimension on drawing again

hi Ben/Azreal

Edit-origin method is working fine,
Thanks for the valuable support.
