I know it must be somewhere?? Is there a toggle to "auto shift" On selection so that every selection does not have to be accepted befor seleting the next item??? IE. in the hole fuction i want to select points and not have to confirm every selection. ???? Thanks in advance

I don't clearly understand your question but by the sound of it you might want to look at preferences selection and read up on the documentation. I don't recognise the jargon you're using.

What version of NX ?

Hudson,
Here is an example. In the hole feature I select the the plane to work on and then go to selecting my points. Every point I select I have to select the apply toggle befor I can select the next point. I have loaded a newer vs of NX
6.0.15. In the previous versions I could select the point and it would automatically "confirm" the selection and I could just go to the next point with out having to select the apply toggle after ever selection. Hope this clearifies.
Thanks

NX4 (dont know where in NX6)

under "File" pulldown menu;

Utillities

Customer Defaults

a Command tree structure should be displayed on the left and a dialog window on the right.... My command tree defaults to "Modeling".... select "Gateway >then> User Interface" there is a tab in the dialog window for "Selection Steps Dialog", pick it.

There is a pick block under the "Selection Steps Dialog" tab for "Confirm Upon Apply Toggle State"

This may help, however you will need write priviledges to modify your customer defaults.

In NX6 when you select OK or Apply the middle mouse button takes on that function. When you want to define points for holes select the first point and then click Apply. Now just select the next point - middle mouse, and select the next one and so on.
Once you hace them all created click Cancel.

DesignBiz,
Yes that is what i want except the than tab is not in nx6.
Question is where did it go???

John,
Yes I can do that but I dont want to double click for every
pick.

The reason this was changed is because starting in NX 5 Points are now being treated as features and in all other cases of creating a 'feature' with a preview, which your cursor pick now represents with that little yellow square, you have a chance to make changes before accepting it, either by selecting again, perhaps using a different select type, or by entering/changing the values directly in the X,Y,Z coordinates. Once the point has been correctly positioned, just like when you're confirming that the Blend looks correct or that Swept Surface is the shape that you wished or that Shell is what you expected, you then hit Apply to accept it and then you can immediately pick again. We have done nothing but make the define then confirm behavior of point creation consistent with virtually all of the other feature creation dialog interaction.

Note that starting in NX 6, once you select Apply in any dialog the first time, Dialog Memory will retain that as the default action even if you leave the function and perform some other operation, when you return to it, the Apply button will still be preset for the MB2 confirmation (i.e. Default Action) when the system is ready for you to confirm that operation.

Remember; Consistency is it's own reward.

LMTDCS,

Sounds like you have your answer from John Baker.
I am hoping to move on to a newer version like NX6 soon.
It appears some aspects of selection for certain commands have been changed somewhat. Good luck !
