I've recently upgraded to Acad LT 2004/ XP. My problem is that when I click an icon, the icon isn't actuated and I have to click it again -- sometimes a third time. Needless to say this is extremely annoying. I've tried every user setting I can think of, without success. Anybody else had and solved this problem?

yes I have - it seems you just have to stop the pointer from 'moving' at the time you left-click.

Microsoft has decided that the mouse click is activated when you "up-click" not when you "down-click". If you press down the mouse button on the icon but then move the mouse before you release the button, you will activate only what is under the mouse when you release the button, not when you press the button.

Does that help?

It may be that your computer system is struggling with the additional processing power resulting from the upgrade. Upgrades usually demand more power.
How does your system spec compare with the Autodesk recommended ?
Does your problem change when you load a very large or very small drawing or a drawing with a large associative hatched area ?

RiBeneke:
The system far exceeds Acad's requirements. I haven't noticed the small dwg/ large dwg correlation yet.

The problem seems more related to the Windows upgrade than to the Acad upgrade. I upgraded Acad trying to solve the problem.

Do you have any idea why I never had the problem wiht ME/ Acad2001LT?
Thanks.

That's it! That's why I could never successfully demo the problem to our IT guys.
Thank you!
